MEET YOUR LEARNING PARTNER
Hi, I’m Portia—a life skills special education teacher with a degree in Human Development from Texas Woman’s University.
I’ve always loved working with kids, especially those who need a little extra support or a different approach to learning.
I started my career in Early Childhood Intervention, supporting toddlers and their families and daycare caregivers with developmental and behavioral concerns. My work included behavior observations and helping families and caregivers explore strategies to support their child.
Today, working with neurodivergent students is part of my everyday life as a teacher. I started tutoring because I love working one-on-one and focusing on what each child needs.
Whether we’re practicing reading, writing, math, communication with an AAC device, or everyday independence, I want learning to feel comfortable, supportive, and helpful. Every child learns differently—and there’s room for that here.

A FEW HELPFUL DETAILS

The first 30-minute consultation is free. Pricing for ongoing one-hour sessions is discussed afterward and agreed upon before paid tutoring begins.
A parent or guardian must remain in the home for the entire consultation or tutoring session. This is a business policy.
No. Tutoring provides supplementary educational practice. It does not replace school-provided services, clinical care, or the school’s IEP process.

Please avoid sending IEP documents or sensitive student records by text or email. The parent intake is for basic contact and consultation-planning information.
YOUR FAMILY’S INFORMATION
The intake is intended for parents and guardians, not for children to complete. It requests parent contact details, the student’s first name or initials and age, school and district, service address, and learning interests. Portia uses these details to respond, review eligibility and travel range, and plan your consultation.
Form entries are prepared within your browser. This website does not upload or store them in a form database or browser storage. When you choose to email the intake, your email provider and Portia’s email provider handle the message. Email is not a secure document portal: do not include diagnoses, birth dates, IEP documents, medical records, or other sensitive records.
